  • Home Art Salon in Fall '24

    The artist's East Village Private Studio has been the hub of creation for the 2024 solo show collection, acting as a studio work space and art salon showcase space. Before the opening of the solo show, "A Kind Soul Is A Cool Soul" at Detour Gallery in mid Novemeber, photorgapher Peter Koloff shot a series of images for his portfolio and for the artist's press.

  • East Village Studio of Summer '24

    July to August 2024, Storm has been actively working in studio on her new collection, "A Kind Soul Is A Cool Soul." With over 30 pieces already completed since May 2024, she's focused on opening a new solo show by the end of the year. A typical day for the artist starts at 5am in her living quarters, entering into the studio space by 6am. Daily, Storm works on stretched and un-stretched canvases in rotation, categorizing themes by color and style. Below are various process images shot by the artist of her space from early August.

  • Painted Sidewalk Signage: Commission by 'Gemini 14 Salon'

    March 2021, the hair salon, Gemini 14 , commissioned the artist to paint a custom two-sided sidewalk sign for their location on 14th Street in the East Village. The design was requested to compliment a pink neon sign of the phrase, "Free As My Hair. " The wooden sign was stripped, primed, and painted with exterior latex paint with a matte varnish.   • "The Cool People" & "Emit Time" at West Village Home Studio and Storm Ritter Studio

    From 2014 to 2023, the artist resided at her West Village home studio on Bleecker and Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. This space is where her journey w ith The Cool People tr uly began. As she was developing her ambidextrous style of painting, the figures started to form with the right hand providing structure, and left, emotion. With repetition and time, they became her most iconic visual. Read More About The Cool People . When Storm was practicing her ambidextrous techniques, she primarily focused on the words. In her practice to strengthen ambidextrous techniques, she began writing and painting those words backwards and forwards simultaneously. Emit is Time spelled backwards, ergo, to emit time  means to make time  by utilizing the duality and magic within ourselves.   Individual Process Videos One of Storm's most valued concept is the phrase, Emit Time .   • Fashion Show 2017: Storm Ritter Studio

    A selection of Storm's collection was showcased at Ideal Glass  in the East Village during Fashion Week. Models were dressed head to toe in Storm Ritter Studio, allowing the viewers to purchase and order the garments afterwards at Storm Ritter Studio .

  • 'Meet & Greet' and Closing Reception: "Realm of The Cool People"

    After the exhibition opening of " Realm of The Cool People " with G23NY at 38 Little West 12th Street in Meatpacking, NYC, multiple events were launched by the artist. The gallery space showcased Storm's collection as well as a collection by Marcelle Murdock of Morrison Hotel Gallery October 20th. Marcelle's photo realistic work featured a portrait of Storm Ritter, unifying the event. Storm took over the space as a full solo exhibition adding original textile and painted apparel, art prints, and jewelry into December 2021. Meet & Greet Event October 17th 2021, the Meet & Greet artist event was held, featuring the full collection and live music by Strange Majik, wearing original Storm Ritter apparel. Additional art was added to the gallery, creating a strong retail environment along with the showcase. Press Interview November 2021, G23NY filmed an artist interview for their website, focusing on Storm's collection and inspiration for her current and upcoming work. Closing Reception After transforming the gallery into a solo exhibtion, from October 20th to early Decemeber 2021, Storm was consistently present in the gallery space, operatingg sales daily. During her residency, she was visited by Rob Affuso of Skid Row and other new arts collectors in the Village. The closing reception was held with the remaider of the collection on display, focusing on retail and small art sales.

  • NFT Exhibitions: NYC Crypto Art Fair & Miami Art Week

    November to December 2021, curated by Pollinate and NFT Magazine , Storm participated in the NYC Cypto Art Fair in Times Square and Miami Art Week during Art Basel . Two original paintings, " The Jungian Jungle"  and " The Empress"  were minted as exclusive digital NFT tokens. They were viewed through augmented reality, featuring Storm's NFT tokens in the middle of Time Square, visible through an iPhone camera. With her painting " The Sator Sea " featured in Forbes , this was Storm's first experience connecting to a new audience in a digital marketing. Forbes Article: "New York City is one of the art capitals of the world, and experiencing it firsthand has just gotten easier than ever. For the next several days, you can view and interact with the works of some of the city’s trendiest street artists and painters—not in a traditional museum or gallery, or even on the side of a building, but rather in the heart of Times Square and Manhattan’s Meatpacking District—simply by looking at your cellphone screen. Crypto Art Fair, an art activation hosted in conjunction with NFT.NYC , the world’s largest Non‑Fungible Token conference, has taken the work of 20 local artists and turned them into three-dimensional, augmented reality-enabled NFTs, which will be available for NFT.NYC attendees and the general public to view, interact with, and even purchase." Featured by Coinbase Miami Art Week 2021 Storm participated in the Miami Art Week Digital Exhibition represented by Pollinate,  in December of 2021. Two original paintings, Aquarius Moon  and The Devil , were exclusively minted digital spinning NFT tokens, visible through augmented reality through the iPhone and showcased screens at the exhibition.  Additional a rtwork was minted on Kollect.me , Foundation , and OpenSea online.   • "Solar Symphony" Design & NFT: #MakeUsVisible NYC Art Show

    March 2022, Pollinate asked the artist to join the augmented reality NFT exhibition #MakeUsVisible downtown Manhattan. Based on her reoccurring design called, Solar Symphony , Storm worked with a digital designer in combining her paintings into a virtual moving sculpture. The piece was viewable on an iPhone pinned on Google Maps at a specific location in the West Village and minted online for sale. The art series' mission was to " help audiences envision cityscapes that monumentalize the contributions of individuals who represent a diverse group of voices." "Solar Symphony" Virtual Sculpture NFT NFT DESIGN FROM PAINTING The original paintings for the front and back of the sculpture were the taken from detail images from the "Age of The Cool People" 60-foot building mural. With The Cool People intertwined with the face of the sun on the front and the head with a star on the back.   • Exterior House Murals of "The Cool People" in Florida Beach Towns

    Since the creation of her murals in downtown Dunedin, Storm is consistently commissioned to paint small murals of The Cool People on local house exteriors. The artist's family resides in Dunedin, a beach-oriented tourist town on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico with a flair for creative businesses and unique homes. Tour groups focus on murals and painted homes, and locals love to collect art on their houses. When Storm visits for sabbatical  studio time, she is availabe for interior and exterior custom work. Around the Tampa Bay area, from St. Petersburg to Clearwater Beach, Storm has been commissioned for work of "The Cool People" by fans of her work downtown.   • Indoor Mural: "The Cool People" for 'JC Vintage' with Performance by 'Chinchilla"

    In June 2024, Storm was commissioned to paint her iconic wallpaper mural of The Cool People in rainbow colors for the new vintage store on 141 Nassau Ave in Brooklyn, New York. Covering the trim, double doors and fuse box, the 10-foot wall successfully transformed into a optical illusion, accenting the white and gold space.   • Refurbished & Painted Frames: 'King David Glass' at Storm Ritter Gallery

    Fall of 2022, King David Glass & Mirrors collaborated with Storm in refurbishing and painting mirror frames for clients and gallery sales. At the 807 Washington Street storefront in 2022, the artist used the Storm Ritter Gallery space as a public studio, working on the mirrors during gallery viewing hours, giving visitors an immersive creative experience.   • Art Auction Donation: 'Your Part Foundation" at G23NY

    May 4th 2023, Gallery 23 NY partnered with Your Part Foundation to raise funds for Ukraine at their gallery at 821 Washington Street. With Storm working with G23NY with her Storm Ritter Gallery residency, she was a support in the group gallery exhibition execution. She was active in the set up for the showcase and apart of the team for marketing. Storm painted the piece, " Where Do The Children Play " for the art auction donation at the G23NY . The piece was auctioned off and the winner paid for the piece and gifted it back to the artist to sell again, becoming an art patron/collector with other work later that year.   • Local NY Television Interview on "Art of Fashion TV"

    The Art of Fashion, a local Manhattan TV show, visited the Storm Ritter Gallery at 807 Washington Street in winter of 2022. After shooting an interview and photos at the location, they invited Storm to the station to film a live segment to air on local television. The content shot at the gallery was used, as well as press images and art visuals.

  • Opening Reception: "Realm of The Cool People"

    On October 7th 2021, "Realm of The Cool People" opened with G23NY at 34 Little West 12th Street in Meatpacking, NYC. The 40+ piece collection was created at her West Village home studio from 2020-2021. View the full collection online, here . With a large crowd at the opening, the artist provided entertainment by NYC band, Strange Majik and complimentary bar, sponsored by Doña Sarita mezcal. With an array of eccentric guests for the surrealist art, a mention in the New York Post was published noting the gallery opening's old school Village energy. Frank Andrews is one of Storm's dearest friends and mentors of many years. Frank has been her long-time teacher in the art of tarot cards, palmistry, and esoteric knowledge.   • 'Spring Soiree' Live Painting Event at Storm Ritter Gallery

    April 20th, 2023, Storm hosted an evening of live painting and cocktails at the Storm Ritter Gallery storefront on 807 Washington Street, NYC. Throughout the night, she painted The Cool People on artisan paper for immediate sale. Her staff sold fine art, signed prints, merchandise, and previously painted paintings on paper.   • Open House & Live Painting at Storm Ritter Gallery II

    June 11th 2023, the first event launched at storefront, Storm Ritter Gallery II . This daytime open house featured a live painting section at the front of the gallery, fine art viewing, and merchandise sales. Restocked artisan jewelry, apparel, prints, and small paintings were available for immediate purchase. From noon to close, Storm and Studio Cat Velvet managed the space, greeting clients and visitors to the new gallery storefront. This second Meatpacking location of Storm Ritter Gallery  opened in May 2023 at 38 Little West 12th Street, NYC with G23NY . The location showcased the remainder of Storm’s 2022 solo show collection, “ Cirque of The Cool People ” with added 2023 art and merchandise. With a large inventory of merchandise, the storefront developed a stronger retail element.   • Press Feature in Up Magazine on "Cirque of The Cool People"

    After the opening of the artist's third solo show, " Cirque of The Cool People " in October 2022, Up Magazine released a feature on the exhibition. An interview was held at the new, Storm Ritter Gallery, with writer Alina Perez discussing her background and work with retail/gallery storefronts.   • Opening Solo Show Reception: "Cirque of The Cool People"

    September 2022, Storm opened her third solo show, " Cirque of The Cool People " with G23NY at 807 Washington Street in the Meatpacking District, NYC. Opening night was eventful with a large attendance and charming staff executing the fine art sales and merchandise booth. Live DJ and craft cocktails were served while guests viewed the new collection. After the opening, the exhibition was planned to run into October 2022, but with the success of sales, Storm was given storefront residency, becoming the first Storm Ritter Gallery  downtown Manhattan.   • Interior Wall & Table: "The Cool People" Mural Pattern

    With G23NY, the artist was supported by the gallery staff to elevate the storefront. She added a interior mural wall in the front entry and painted the bar table used at all events for their three gallery locations. As usual, the design is is painted in an ambidextrous fashion and as seen at other businesses and homes. Inquire online for a commissioned piece in this style, here .   • Video Tour: Making of "Age of The Cool People"

    The video was filmed at the Storm Ritter Gallery in January 2023 as requested by the local Dunedin Mural Tours for their visitors via app and website. In this short clip, Storm explains the process and meaning of the “ Age of The Cool People ” mural in Dunedin, Florida. She discusses the story of her impact at Blur Nightclub with the 60-foot outdoor mural and indoor painted wallpaper of The Cool People . Visuals of the art prints are shown, all available online to purchase now. Art Prints of The Mural The artist prints of the "Age of The Cool People" mural are available online. Prints of the full wall, original design on wood, and detail images were limited edition released in 2022.

  • Costume Design: "Mean Girls" on Broadway & National Tour

    As of July 2024, Storm continues to provide garments for the Mean Girls National Tour. Since 2017 at S torm Ritter Studio, she was hired to design costume pieces for the character "Janis Ian" for Mean Girls On Broadway . Storm's village street style aligned with the energy of the eccentric, rebellious character. The show opened in April 2018 at August Wilson Theater and closed in March 2020. The garments are handmade in large quantities made of her original digitally-printed textiles. Other pieces were sourced locally, restructured, and hand painted. With Storm's history in theatrical scenic design at NYU Tisch School of the Arts as well as her costume design work at Saturday Night Live , the freelance designing job was ideal for the studio. As the actors changed for the role, Storm became friends with the long-running Janis Ian, Mary Kate Morrissey who is now headlining as Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway. MK and her husband become gallery visitors and collectors of Storm's work with original paintings in their home and a custom leather jacket of her own.

  • Service Award at Girl Scouts of Greater New York Annual Gala

    April 2023, Storm attended the Girls Scouts of Greater New York Awards Gala where she was honored with a Service Award for her arts volunteer work from 2020 onward. After leading multiple creative workshops in downtown Manhattan and through virtual Zoom sessions, Storm continued her association with GSGNY into 2024 with speaking events and donations. As an artist and business owner, it is crucial to positively give back to future young entrepreneurs and creatives. Alongside the influential women of the organization, the event was filled with inspiring stories and powerful forces. Storm's mission is to provides creative mentorship for young people to be who are and to go after what they want to do. Although she was not a Girl Scout as a child, working with G2GNY is a ideal place for Storm's influence. Empowering young females, especially in the arts, is a large facet of the studio's foundation.

  • Showcase Evening at Storm Ritter Gallery with 'Strange Majik' Album Art & Birthday Celebration

    February 4th, 2023, the artist held a gallery party event at 807 Washington. Storm Ritter Gallery  hosted the event, providing live music, a new fine art showcase, and new merchandise. New fine art was added to the exhibition, including painted mirror frames and statues, all collectively sold that evening. In dual celebration of the new album release for NYC band, Strange Majik  and the artist’s birthday, the evening was filled with entertainment. The artist was commissioned to design the album art for the new record, with the original art framed on display as well as the records. New artwork was added to the exhibition, including painted statues, sold that evening. On display as the backdrop for the band was a commissioned project  of painted red curtains for the NYC nightclub lounge, Rosewood Theater . The curtains were to be picked up the following week, so it was a wonderful way to share them before installation. PAINTED STATUES PRESS, LIVE MUSIC & ALBUM ART NYC ANIMAL RECORD COVER Storm designed the cover and provided an exclusive cool person for the back. Signed records were available for sale in both Storm Ritter Galleries , into late 2023. As of 2024, signed records are available online .   • Donation from the Heart: Art Teacher Memorial Plaque, Painting, & Presentation

    "There are no mistakes in art, only happy accidents." Mrs. Weezie Kempf was Storm Ritter's elementary school art teacher, and she sadly passed away in 2023. In appreciation for her teacher, she ensured that a memorial piece was created for the school. It was her privilege to order a bronze handmade plaque with funds of her own and with a fundraiser silent auction at Storm Ritter Gallery . She also gifted a framed painting of The Cool People and a monetary gift for a student to be awarded with the new Weezie Kempf Art Award. At 807 Washington Street on February 4th, Storm held a silent auction of fine art and merchandise. The piece " Ace of Pentacles" was auctioned off with the proceeds used to fund the bronze plaque and contribute to the new Weezie Kempf Award for an 8th grade art student. Storm delivered the donations to the school and spoke at an assembly of students, teachers, and Mrs. Kempf's family in appreciation and memory of her beloved art teacher. She discussed the importance of teachers and the powerful impact of creative people in young lives. Mrs. Kempf gave Storm the gift of confidence, immortalizing the idea that there are never mistakes, only happy accidents . As a business owner and full-time artist, Storm prioritizes giving back to her community, and this was a melancholic moment that will always be remembered. The artist toured the school and connected with teachers and students, bringing appreciation for the arts.
