September 2022 SOLO EXHIBITION 807 Washington Street Meatpacking, NYC "CIRQUE OF THE COOL PEOPLE" The solo exhibition is a showcase of spiritual spectacle in a surrealist universe. “Cirque of The Cool People” invites the viewer's soul into an immersion of phantasmagoria –– with mystical imagery and theatrical composition. The artwork acts as a guide to transport people into a space of divine magic. Using esoteric symbolism and applying theatrical scenic design, the collection is an invitation to escapism and self-enlightenment. The collection encourages the viewer to apply personal didacticism to feel fantastical liberation apart from the structure of realities of life. • About "The Cool People"

Learn about the signature figures created by Storm Ritter. The surrealistic storytellers are the iconic visuals featured in fine art and fashion. THE COOL PEOPLE THE COOL PEOPLE THE COOL PEOPLE THE COOL PEOPLE In 2014, Storm's signature figures came to fruition, and clients voiced them as "cool." As they evolved into a motif, their name was undeniable: The Cool People . Spirits around you, people in your head, or souls within you; they are whatever you want them to be. Each person is completely unique; never one like the other. As an ambidextrous painter, using the right hand for structure, and left hand for emotion, The Cool People are birthed. The figures often have emptiness within their bodies, representing unfulfilled qualities all humans share. The head lines are essential to their being, symbolizing divinity and reminiscent of chapeaus. Each one is unique, just like people are. Watch the origin video of The Cool People to see the organic nature of their creation. As developed main characters in the surrealist stories, the compositions are orchestrated by their soulful presence. As expressionistic storytellers, they stylistically evolve in detailed landscapes. The figures inherently embody strong feminine energy, but for the artist, The Cool People represent all people. Variations on The Cool People appear in Storm's work with the mimicking of foliage and mermaids to morphing into musical instruments and esoteric symbols. With the customer popular interest, she focused on showcasing painted original garment pieces, vintage apparel and sourced deadstock to compliment her textile collection. Garments of all kinds were accessible to be transformed into wearable artwork, catering to street wear and stagewear custom orders for clients. Painted t-shirts with the early years of The Cool People were featured as well as immensely colorful pattern work. Not only were the pieces painted by Storm, but included patchwork of original textiles and embellishments. Wearable Art Using the various forms of paints to apply to textile, garments visually embodied a technicolor palette or classic black-and-white look. The concept of an "Artist Outfit" was promoted, selling bulk expressionistic painted apparel. Weekly, new apparel would be added to the floor, reflecting the theme of the current inventory. With the sales staff, organization and promotion enabled the artist to create every pieces, ensuring credibility for customers. Play Video Process Samples Storm created painted pieces in the upstairs production studio and during live painting events downstairs in the main retail shop. Video content was typically filmed during the production, showcasing her process painting clothing on her body or ambidextrously in studio. The artist often painted directly on models wearing the garments, adding a performative aspect to the production. She always wore her own apparel and painted fashion, expanding her day-to-day marketing around Downtown Manhattan. Painted fashion is still a pillar in collections, available for custom orders online. Order Painted Garments Artist, Clients & Models View the photo archive of the artist, clients, and models in painted apparel from 2015 to 2018.
