RETAIL STOREFRONT
Storm Ritter Gallery

OPENED FALL 2022 | CLOSED SPRING 2023
807 WASHINGTON ST, MEATPACKING, NYC

After Storm Ritter's 2022 solo exhibition, "Cirque of The Cool People" with Gallery 23 NY, the storefront location was transitioned into the Storm Ritter Gallery after the success of the opening reception and reputation from her past business Storm Ritter Studio. This location launched her resurgence in brick-and-mortar retail. Managing the brick-and-mortar six days a week, Storm solely operated the gallery, accompanied by her Studio Cat Velvet. At the gallery, Storm hosted events, painted in studio and catered to custom orders for canvas work, furniture refurbishing, tattoo appointments, and painted apparel for clients.

Retail Store & Studio Space

The gallery curation featured remaining works from the 2022 solo exhibition, Cirque of The Cool People, including an artist gift shop and new editions of artist prints. The evolving gallery storefront allowed for new and revisiting guests to learn more from the artist, purchase new works and start commission projects. When Storm was not operating the retail, she was live painting in the pop-up studio area or in the shop window.

Events & Artist Talks

Located right by the Whitney Museum of Art, Storm provided an intimate atmosphere for visiting locals and tourists. While a different interior esthetic than her last business, the storefront elevated her ability to be lead in business management and art production simultaneously. In her artist talks and panels, this concept was a driving force in her message to clientele and guests. On a monthly basis, Storm hosted events and gallery tours at the location. Visual Archives

During the storefront run, the artist produced the majority of her own marketing visuals, also collaborating with photographers and videographers to document the art process and evolving gallery displays. With press from The Villager, AMNY, Meatpacking District Online, Up Magazine, and other small publications on social media, the gallery attendance grew throughout the pop-up's presence Downtown Manhattan. Storm launched new NFTs with specific art in the displayed collection, sponsored by the NYC organization, OrangeHare. This resulted in a press feature focused on the work and the gallery itself.
