"The Sator Sea" Painting on Canvas (30x48")

The Sator Square, also known as the Rotas Square, is a five word Latin palindrome. The reference to this is found at the bottom left of the piece. The physical relic engraved with the letters was said to be found at the ruins of Pompeii, as well as at Christian and miscellaneous religious ancient sites. With magical associations, the piece is known to put our fires, along with many other protection tasks. In The Sator Sea, there is a sense of chaos and mania –– allowing the viewer to fall into the world to decipher their own interpretation.
