The People's Artist | Online Competition
As of May 4th, Storm Ritter has been selected to participate in an online contest for The People's Artist, sponsored by The Art of Elysium and associated with Art Forum and Johnny Depp. With so many brilliant creatives involved, this is merely a marketing opportunity to connect with others and expand her network. You are able to vote online for Storm Ritter, but also know, online contests are Fortuna's way of spinning her wheel of luck to open unexpected doors. Storm Ritter

Esoteric Education: Tarot, Palmistry & Frank Andrews
Early 2014, I discovered a truly unique soul, Frank Andrews. Perhaps one of the best influences of my lifetime, he became not only a teacher but a tethered friend. We had a serendipitous strange meeting, but that is both of our styles (much like many of his friends I imagine.) I came across his name in a book and dropped him a line, not for a reading, but to ask him why I felt the way I felt. I left him the most wacky voicemail. Truly I just knew I needed to meet him. Oddly e

Artist's Light
"Express light, not the physical phenomenon, but the only light that really exists, that in the artist's brain..." This is a quote from Matisse in 1945, and fuck does this resonate! Found it to be so comforting while heavy simultaneously. What a beautiful way to express spirituality of an artist. Same day I read this I had an aura photograph taken, and I endlessly inspired to believe in my own power even more. Maybe a nudge to the ego, but hey we all need that. Especially mo

Process, Baby, Process
One foot in the past, one foot in the present: that's the theme recently. Working on finishing a 30-piece series and the personal study has been intense. I've been focusing on painting with the unconscious in mind, producing psychedelic-surrealist stories. Unconscious painting is almost like sculpting, and I'm passionate but sculpting not only souls, but color palettes. This method of creation relies purely on emotion and mindset. Once I get goosebumps, I can move on to anoth

Start of September
What a busy past week with so much success! Been hustling at home and around the city, making things happen! Luckily with a little help from new and old friends, good things ahead. Weeks events included styling pulls for an upcoming tv show, personal shopping appointments, a studio photoshoot, and plans for an October gallery show in Meatpacking. Needless to say, I'm jazzed up with energy but also in need of a recharge. It's now labor day weekend, but for me that means more p

Divine Process
The beauty underneath a finished painting truly makes a piece sing to the soul. These are a few images snapped during the painting process, meaning they are forever gone. Layers can spawn an emotional depth, and it's rewarding to capture moments in time before they are depleted.

chirography
The art if analyzing handwriting is called Chirography. Since my mom taught me calligraphy as a kid, I'm developed so many variations of swerve-meets-curve handwriting styles. Nothing more authentic than someone's handwriting, and I find it so fun to read into people by their style of lettering. Recently I was sharing some poetry and illustrations online, and I had such a huge response about my handwriting. Slowly developing digital font packages of handwriting. So now always

collections of self
These photos were taken a couple of years ago at my home studio by photographer, Kim Souzy. It's a perfect visual timestamp on my creative transition of design and mindset. A chaotic cornucopia of clothing –– an end of an era, but the start of renewal. Sometimes looking back at older photos becomes such an education about your own persona. I'm exactly the same, but 100% different today. Evolution is change, but it's really more about embracing the cumulative collections of se
